UniCarriers Americas hosts national dealer conference

Lift truck manufacturer also unveils new light-duty walkie pallet truck.

UniCarriers Americas Corp. (UCA), Morengo, Illinois, and its dealers gathered at the Delano Las Vegas for the company’s 2015 All Americas Dealer Meeting in November.

Themed “A Powerful Partnership,” company officials and dealer representatives explored the opportunities to be created by the company’s pending acquisition by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI). The one-and-a-half-day conference drew more than 200 dealer principals and general managers, from Canada to Argentina, and covered all aspects of business operations including sales and marketing, product development, manufacturing and aftermarket parts and service.

Among the featured speakers were Akira “Alex” Shiki, president and COO of Tokyo-based UniCarriers Corp., and economist Dr. Stephen Miller, professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Shiki addressed the state of UniCarriers’ global business, and the planned investment and strategic initiatives moving forward in partnership with MHI, while Miller provided insight into the future economic environment in which UniCarriers and dealer partners will operate.

UniCarriers Americas President Anthony Salgado spoke about UniCarriers’ commitment to increasing the value it delivers to customers, dealers and shareholders through continuing improvement in all facets of the business.

Dealers were treated to a first look at the industry’s newest light-duty walkie pallet truck, the UniCarriers WLX, a 4,500-pound, AC-powered lift truck that combines the tightest turning radius and the highest raised fork height in the industry with UniCarriers’ reliability, ergonomic design and fast, easy serviceability, the company says.

“It was an outstanding and timely event,” says Steve Cianci, vice president of sales and marketing, UniCarriers Americas. “Many dealers expressed their excitement and confidence in our partnership moving forward.”

“UniCarriers Americas’ aggressive go-to-market strategy is impressive,” says Tony Sessa, president of CFE Equipment, an award-winning UniCarriers Americas dealership in Norfolk, Virginia. “And coupled with the changes expected with the MHI merger, I am even more confident about the future. The meeting was an informative and valuable experience.”
