An article in the Herald-News, Joliet, Illinois, reports that the village of Romeoville, Illinois, is on track to join the Will County Resource and Recovery Energy Division’s electronics recycling program.
The village board approved an agreement with Will County to host twice-monthly e-recycling events starting in August. The agreement has not yet been finalized, but county officials are expected to reach a decision later this month.
“We’re happy to partner with the county as they try to find creative ways to provide cost-efficient electronics recycling,” Mayor John Noak told the newspaper Monday, July 11.
In June, the county board approved agreements to allow the village of Peotone and New Lenox Township to host electronic drop-off events twice monthly. Romeoville, which had previously collected electronics at the village’s emergency management building, will now conduct the event at the public works facility at 615 Anderson Dr..
“Our public works building is more accessible,” Noak said. “There’s more staffing, and it’s easier to get a truck in there.”
