ExxonMobil Corp., aTexas-based global petrochemical firm, will feature several recycling-related products and services in its display at NPE 2024, a plastics industry trade show taking place May 6-10 in Orlando, Florida.

The company's display space and staff at the five-day event will showcase products featuring certified-circular polymers that are leveraging Exxtend technology for advanced recycling.

Exxtend, which is operating at a facility in Baytown, Texas, uses proprietary technology to break down hard-to-recycle plastics and turn them into raw materials for new products. According to ExxonMobil, the Baytown facility is capable of processing more than 40,000 tons of plastic scrap each year.

That facility and other efforts undertaken by ExxonMobil have led to a “designed for recyclability” line of packaging materials that include monomaterial polyethylene (PE) lamination films, lap seal/fin seal pouches and PE-rich barrier packaging films, including vacuum sealed and thermoformed structures.

At NPE 2024, the company says recycled-content-polymers applications on display that can help to maintain or boost performance will include collation shrink films and heavy-duty sacks.

In 2022, ExxonMobil's collaboration with Indiana-based packaging provider Berry Global resulted in the creation of certified circular ExxonMobil polypropylene that uses Exxtend technology to manufacture food-grade containers. Last year, the two firms announced a collaboration involving recycled-content polyethylene terephthalate.
