O’Neil Releases Update for RS-SQL
O’Neil Software, Irvine, Calif., has released RS-SQL Version 4.04, the latest update to its records center management software.

Highlights of RS-SQL 4.04 include the addition of RSMobile Processing Service, which can be adding during the installation of RS-SQL on one computer or server in a company’s network environment. This allows processing to run continuously in the background and will start up without any user intervention when the server or computer is rebooted, O'Neil says. Once installed, users can view the RSMobile Processing Service from the services console on the computer or server.

Lock America Introduces New Padlocks
Lock America, Corona, Calif., has developed a line of padlocks for the information destruction industry that use the same key codes as most data storage consoles and bins, including the slam lock.

The padlocks enable suppliers and shredding companies to provide customers with padlocks keyed to the same original codes used by bin and console suppliers, allowing a single key to open all locks at the site, according to Lock America.

For more information, document destruction firms may contact their bin or console suppliers or Lock America directly by visiting www.laigroup.com or phoning 800-422-2866.

Version 4.04 also introduces a new tray application that monitors RSMobile processing status and counts. The new RSMobile Processing Monitor option enables users to view the status of processing and counts from any computer in the company’s network that has it installed, O’Neil says. The RSMobile Processing Monitor also provides a tally of activity that has been processed. Any container, file folder or tape activity counts will be visible here, in addition to a tally of the exceptions that have been recorded. At the bottom of the RSMobile processing monitor, users also are able to see when the tallies began accumulating. Anytime the RSMobile processing count is reset by a user with appropriate function access, the date and time stamp will be updated and the tallies will restart at zero, the company says.

The new Sub-Account Invoice Report is designed to break down the charges on the invoice to the sub-account level. Using RS-SQL Reporting Services, the system will gather the sub-account invoice detail that was generated during the invoice creation or reprint process and present a PDF report, O’Neil says. This report shows a summary of sub-account costs, a detailed section for each sub-account and how the charges were calculated and distributed.

The New Storage Detail Report generates a breakdown of the items that are being billed for new storage. The Storage Detail Report is designed to quickly show a user how the new storage calculations on an invoice were made and can be extremely helpful in answering customer questions with regard to invoicing, according to O’Neil.

O’Neil offers software and hardware solutions for more than 1,000 record centers in more than 80 countries.

Brightstone Insurance to Revise PRISM International Insurance Publication

The Publications Task Group of Professional Records and Information Services Management (PRISM) International, based in Chicago, has accepted a proposal from Brightstone Insurance, with offices in Cleveland and New York City, and its Brightstone Consulting division to revise the PRISM International publication Insurance and Risk Transfer Guideline.

The publication was created in 2000 to help members of the industry understand the fundamentals of insurance and risk.

Brightstone has been collecting sample insurance policies from members of the commercial information management industry. While the data have been helpful, the sample has been relatively small, Brightstone says.

A second, broader, survey of the industry was sent to industry operations Oct. 23, 2012. The survey sought to measure key data points regarding current industry insurance practices so that the resulting data can be incorporated into the final publication.

Brighstone says one of the key areas of concern for industry operators is effectively managing the risks associated with data breaches. This risk exposure was not addressed in the previous edition of the publication. The publication also will examine industry trends regarding managing risks associated with catastrophic loss events, including special coverage to manage disaster and incident response and revenue replacement beyond the normal scope of business interruption coverage.

PRISM International will report the actual date of publication following its document review process. A tentative project timetable calls for the publication to be completed in time for the 2013 PRISM International Annual Conference.

Brightstone Insurance says it will be prepared to review the results of the study with members of the industry at the conference, which is May 13-17, 2013, in Bonita Springs, Fla.
