Pricing for SOP (sorted office paper) as reported by PPI Pulp & Paper Week Aug. 5 showed no movement in most regions, with the exception of the Northeast and San Francisco/Los Angeles regions.
While SOP pricing gained $10 per ton in the Northeast, it fell by $5 per ton in California as of August. This is the fourth month in a row that the California region posted a decline in pricing. In April of this year, SOP was selling for $175-$185 in that region, where as of August, the price had declined to the $150-$160 range.
