Prices for SOP (sorted office paper) and many other recovered paper grades showed limited movement throughout most of 2014, though prices for the January 2015 buying period increased in some regions. The Midwest and Southeast saw SOP prices move upward by $10 per ton, while the Southwest saw a gain of $5 per ton. However, the coastal areas saw no gains in pricing, with the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco/Los Angeles and the Northeast holding to the previous month’s pricing.
