Axo Opens Philadelphia Facility
New Zealand-based Axo Shredders Ltd. has opened a U.S. manufacturing, sales and service facility in Philadelphia. Jeff Zorn serves as chief executive officer of the new facility, called Axo Shredders USA.

Zorn says Axo Shredders selected Philadelphia for its U.S. facility because it offers easy access to markets on the East Coast as well as to other locations in the United States and Canada.

The first products to be manufactured at the facility will be a 33,000-gross-vehicle-weight (GVW) shred truck, known as the MST-6, and a 25,550-GVW shred truck, known at the MST-5, which does not require a commercial driver’s license to operate, Zorn says. The two shred trucks have been designed for the North American market, he adds.

The trucks will debut at the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) 2012 Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif., March 31 to April 1.

“The USA range of shredding trucks will be using our new FATSO shredding module,” Zorn says. “Increased throughput and lower operating and maintenance costs are just a few of the benefits the FATSO shredder offers.”

Axo also will begin manufacturing its 19,500-GVW shred truck, the MST-4, and stationary shredding plants at its U.S. plant.

Iron Mountain, O’Neil Link Records Management Software

Boston-based Iron Mountain Inc. and O’Neil DataTech LLC, a division of Irvine, Calif.-based O’Neil Software, have announced a project to link the two companies’ respective records management software tools. The partnership will create what Iron Mountain says is a unified solution for customers seeking to access and manage records stored across multiple locations and with different vendors.

In the first quarter of 2012, the companies will integrate O’Neil’s RS-SQL software with Iron Mountain’s Accutrac software using O’Neil’s RMBridge Web services. According to Iron Mountain, the move will allow organizations to manage paper records stored at records centers using O’Neil’s software as well as at Iron Mountain facilities.

By centrally managing records, Iron Mountain says organizations can more easily apply uniform polices and processes for how long to keep those documents and when to destroy them. Iron Mountain says implementing this solution will reduce the number of tools customers require to manage records, reducing their costs.

“Managing information consistently is the key to achieving compliance and taking control,” says Richard Wilder, Iron Mountain senior vice president. “In this solution, we want to give customers a single window into their records inventory so they can more easily apply their policies for document retention and disposition as well as legal holds across their inventory, regardless of storage location.”

Ian Thomas, executive vice president of O’Neil DataTech, says, “We are pleased to partner with Iron Mountain, bringing together RMBridge and Accutrac to help customers better track and manage their physical records inventory. Our two companies have deep records management experience and manage records in an extensive number of facilities around the world. This means companies small and large will be able to consolidate the management of more of their records.”

The agreement between Iron Mountain and O’Neil comes four months after Iron Mountain announced similar plans in July with the software firm GimmalSoft.

Iron Mountain says these agreements illustrate the emphasis it places on delivering a records management tool that can help customers better understand the nature of their records inventory and more consistently manage information.

Shred Options Readies for Launch
Shred Options, the company formed by David DeLorge of Shredding Network, Cleveland, and Ray Barry of Total Training Services, Spartanburg, S.C., has announced it will soon launch its national shred program.

Shred Options will officially launch at the 2012 National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif., March 30 to April 1. The goal of Shred Options is to help local and regional firms “narrow the gap with the big guys,” he adds.

Shred Options invites companies that are certified to the National Association for the Information Destruction (NAID) standard and that are interested in a licensed territory to contact DeLorge at delorge@shreddingnetwork.com or Barry at raybarry@shreddingnetwork.com. Those interested should provide their company name, certification status, the name of the city in which they would like to be licensed and contact information.

The company also is looking for two additional members for its board of directors. Those interested should e-mail DeLorge or Barry.
