ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services changes name

New name better reflects the organization's range of ITAD services.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services was established in 2001 and opened its secured 25,000-square-foot Fort Lauderdale location in 2013. To reflect its growth, the organization has changed its name to ARC Broward IT Asset Recovery. Current and prospective clients and local government officials are among those who will join the company Oct. 28, 2015, in celebrating its new name and growth at the facility located near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The enterprise, operated by the 60-year-old nonprofit organization, ARC Broward of Sunrise, Florida, has evolved from an electronics recycler for end-of-life computers, cellphones and other electronics to a competitive IT asset recovery business that offers a range of services to major corporate clients in the region, including AutoNation, City Furniture, Ultimate Software, Nova Southeastern University and the City of Fort Lauderdale, to name a few. Services include information technology asset disposition (ITAD), data security, asset tracking and reporting, electronics recycling and collection.

Currently handling more than 2 million pounds of IT assets per year, the organization has expanded the number of employees and individuals with disabilities that it trains and places in jobs from eight to a total of 35. The organization is certified to the R2 (Responsible Recycling Practices), ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 and NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) standards and is a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher.

ARC Broward President and CEO Dennis Haas says, “It is our mission to help provide opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a full-service IT asset recovery business, we are able to serve a broader range of corporate clients, which ultimately benefits the community at large.”

Incorporated in 1956, ARC Broward is a nationally accredited, private, 501(c)(3) nonfprofit organization providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as to those with various life challenges. ARC Broward operates three “mission-based” enterprises, including the ARC Broward Learning Institute, ARC Broward Culinary Institute and ARC Broward Electronics Recycling Services, and provides services through 21 programs in nine locations across Florida’s Broward County.
