American Pulverizer - A Storied History

Productivity in the past, present and future is the key to the American Pulverizer and Hustler Conveyor stories.

Since 1908, American Pulverizer Company of St. Louis, Mo., has been making size-reduction equipment that has been used by loyal customers in several industrial markets.

From its origins in coal pulverizing, the company soon widened its efforts to address other markets, including the crushing of metal turnings and other forms of scrap.

By the early 1950s, American Pulverizer was making 60-inch-diameter shredders for processing ferrous and nonferrous scrap.

The company’s accumulated knowledge in the aspects of design, engineering and manufacturing of size-reduction equipment trace back over several decades, but never stands still.

The American Pulverizer Co. product line in the 21st century includes an extensive line of machines for scrap processors and other recyclers, including hammermills, ringmills, slow speed high-torque shredders, knife choppers, impactors, trommel screens, jaw crushers, horizontal shaft impactors and vertical shaft impactors.

The 1979 acquisition of Iron Hustler Company, soon renamed Hustler Conveyor Co., has created a combination of two companies that can work either together or separately to meet the many equipment needs of scrap processors and other recyclers.

Now operating from a combination of expanded and newly-built production facilities, the two companies use computer design and laser-guided precision fabricating equipment in tandem with a skilled and experienced workforce to custom-build the productive equipment requested by its recycling industry customers.

The principal owners of both companies are brothers Chris and Paul Griesedieck, whose family has helped guide the companies through several decades of growth based on innovation, product quality and the integrity of each and every employee.

Recyclers around the world may or may not know of the long histories of American Pulverizer and Hustler Conveyor. What they do know about the two companies is their current status as suppliers who build the right equipment to meet their needs at the right price, on time and with service and support that causes them to be life-long, loyal customers.
