Jake, Connor & Crew Comply with CARB Phase 2 Standards

Jake, Connor & Crew, Kitchener, Ontario, has announced that it has changed its entire console product line to comply with the California Air Resources Board

Jake, Connor & Crew, Kitchener, Ontario, has announced that it has changed its entire console product line to comply with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase 2 emission standards for the Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products as of November 2010. The state agency had set a Jan. 1, 2011, compliance deadline.

CARB Phase 2 standards for the ATCM call for formaldehyde emissions from products containing particle board to be restricted to 0.09 parts per million by Jan. 1, 2011. The standard also calls for emissions from products containing medium density fiberboard to be restricted to 0.11 parts per million.

According to a fact sheet issued by CARB, a division of the California Environmental Protection Agency, “To ensure compliance with the ATCM, panel manufacturers must be ‘third-party certified.’ This requires independent emission testing of panels and manufacturing processes for manufacturers that sell or supply products to California. Third-party certifiers are required to be approved by the Air Resources Board.”

Patrick Connor, president of Jake, Connor & Crew, says, “In our continuing effort for product and service excellence, these modifications will be at no additional cost to our customers. We are proud of this environmental innovation to our console line, which couples well with our environmentally focused, fully recyclable wheeled bin line.”
