Sheboygan, Wisconsin-based SACO AEI Polymers says it has been awarded a platinum rating by Paris-based EcoVadis, a global provider of business sustainability ratings. “This prestigious distinction places SACO AEI Polymers among the top 1 percent of companies globally assessed by EcoVadis for sustainability performance,” states the producer of polymer compounds and masterbatches.
SACO AEI Polymers is part of Sheboygan-based AESSE Investments Ltd. and operates production and research facilities in Sheboygan, Aurora, Ohio, and in England, Mexico and India.
The company says its EcoVadis platinum rating “recognizes outstanding achievements across four key areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.”
On the recycling front, SACO has been involved in a partnership with Illinois-based Quincy Recycle to recycle end-of-life Pexidan-brand cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) wire and cable coating scrap since 2015.
“Rather than discarding these byproducts, SACO ensures that they are repurposed into valuable applications, giving them new life and reducing environmental impact,” states the company.
“This platinum rating is a powerful validation of our long-term sustainability strategy and the dedication of our teams worldwide,” says Luca Saggese, SACO’s CEO. “Sustainability is not an initiative at SACO AEI Polymers: it is embedded in how we operate, innovate and partner with our customers.”
According to SACO, the global EcoVadis network exceeds 150,000 companies and organizations operating in 180 countries, and achieving platinum status underscores SACO’s leadership in driving sustainable practices within the polymers and additives industry.
