Zero Waste Energy Development Co. LLC (ZWEDC) of San Jose, California, has purchased the second densimetric table (d-table) in the U.S. The first d-table was purchased by sister company Z-Best Composting, Gilroy, California, in 2013. Both d-tables were installed and supplied by Stamford, Connecticut-based system supplier Van Dyk Recycling Solutions.
The densimetric table upgrades compost purity. It can remove more than 99 percent of compost contamination, such as glass, plastics, stones and stickers, and increase the goal of organics diversion from landfill, Van Dyk Recycling Solutions says in a news release.
ZWEDC’s unit has a capacity of 12 to15 tons per hour and is processing dry AD digestate after windrows to remove glass/inerts and to generate a sellable or divertible compost product.
ZWEDC’s commercial dry fermentation anaerobic digestion facility is the largest in the world.
