Zero Waste Energy (ZWE), a San Jose, Calif.-based company specializing in recyclable commodity recovery combined with energy production, has announced its selection of Eric Herbert as CEO.
Herbert has more than 15 years of senior executive experience in the solid waste industry and more than 10 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, according to a ZWE news release.
Herbert has led two regional waste companies as president or COO, using his technical and managerial background to develop and operate sizable solid waste and recyclables processing facilities. “His experience in the solid waste business covers all elements of the business including acquisitions and competitive proposals, collection and hauling operations, recyclables processing including single stream and mixed waste, composting, and landfill operations,” according to ZWE.
Herbert also rose to senior level positions in the engineering and construction industry and is a registered civil engineer and licensed general engineering contractor in California. He holds a bachelors of science degree in civil engineering from the University of the Pacific and a master of science degree from Stanford University.
ZWE combines commodity recovery and energy production through waste-to-energy processing systems using what it calls “a variety of patented technologies to capture and recycle waste streams with an emphasis on transforming the organic fraction into electricity or compressed natural gas through a dry anaerobic digestion process.”
The new processes are have been designed to “double the industry norms for operating margins, return on equity and market valuation while meeting the increasing public policy ‘zero waste’ demands for landfill diversion,” according to the company.
