The European-based firm zonzoo, which targets the recycling of cell phones as the core of its business, has expanded its collection and recycling program with the launch of operations in Austria and Portugal. zonzoo specializes in recovering, recycling and reusing communications devices, especially cell phones.
Last year, the company recycled close to two million mobile phones. The company expects that number to triple this year. Meanwhile, the company is seeing growth from increased sales in its existing territories (U.K., Germany, Spain, Holland and Spain), and estimates that significant growth will come from the new territories now on-line, as well as those due to launch in the coming months throughout Europe.
In addition to working with the public throughout Europe, the company also has corporate accounts with top mobile telephone companies in Europe, including Nectar, Tesco, T-Mobile, Telenor, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.
“Austria and Portugal are key territories for us,” said Colin Armstrong-Bell, zonzoo’s CEO. “I am very pleased that the zonzoo brand is now becoming known in two more countries. zonzoo is attracting a lot of attention throughout Europe and with our other planned openings over the comings months, zonzoo’s influence as a major recycler of electrical goods will undoubtedly grow.”
