Zinc Recycling Project Announced

Company sees good opportuniy in Turkey.

ZincOx Resources LLC has completed the pre-feasibiltiy study on the development of a zinc recycling facility in Turkey. The process will allow for the development of a plant to recover zinc oxide from dust produced as waste by the Turkish steel industry. The project is being called the Aliaga Recycling Project.

The project will initially produce 12,000 tons per year of zinc oxide. The company hopes to increase that level to 30,000 tons per year due to an expansion during the second year of production.

Andrew Woollett, managing director of ZincOx, said, “The Aliaga Recycling Project is the most advanced of a number of recycling projects we are working on and having such excellent economic returns, we believe it will provide a development blueprint that can be replicated elsewhere in the world”.

About 44 percent of the world’s steel is produced through electric arc furnaces. More than 3 million metric tons of dust are produced through this process.

As to the location, Woollette noted that there are 16 mills using electric arc furnaces in Turkey. The ARP plant will be located in the Aliaga Industrial Zone, within 4 kilometers of five steel plants. These mills produce about 5 million metric tons of steel a year, which will result in around 80,000 tons per year of waste dust having a grade of more than 20 percent zinc.

The process to be used at the facility will result in the production of high quality zinc oxide that can be sold directly to industrial consumers.

A feasibility study has commenced and is scheduled for completion in mid 2005.
