York County Recycling Rate Tops Pennsylvania

York County ranked No. 1 in the state for its recycling rate, which came in at 76.7 percent in 1999, according to the most recent figures available.

The York County Solid Waste and Refuse Authority submitted a report to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection detailing its municipal and yard waste efforts as well as land application of biosolids.

Under Act 101, all Pennsylvania counties are required to submit an annual report detailing the amount of materials recycled within the county for the previous calendar year.
