WRAP Seeks Bids for Pricing Guide

UK agency seeks bids for pricing report.

The Waste & Resources Action Programme has put the production of its Materials Pricing Report out to competitive bid. WRAP is looking for a company capable of producing an independent guide to prices for recyclable materials on a regular basis, as well as maintaining subscriber and pricing databases.

The Materials Pricing Report, distributed electronically, is a free weekly subscription service aimed specifically at buyers and sellers of recovered materials. It contains pricing information based on actual transaction data, as well as a commentary section which includes market intelligence on the key factors driving the market.

Liz Dixon Smith, Economist with WRAP, explains: "The Materials Pricing Report was introduced by WRAP in mid 2004 to improve the transparency of the markets for recyclable materials. It offers an independent authoritative source of pricing information on recyclable materials and helps subscribers achieve market prices for their material."

The scope of the work includes: producing the Materials Pricing Report on a regular basis; maintaining databases of subscriber and pricing information; and working with WRAP to build the subscriber base. Collaboration with WRAP is also required to help develop the report to include new materials or additional analytical tools.

The company winning the bid will be expected to produce regular Materials Pricing Reports from April 1, 2007 through March 31, 2008 and beyond by mutual consent, subject to market testing.

Interested parties can download the tender document MKN001-002 containing the full criteria from the WRAP website at www.wrap.org.uk, or obtain a hard copy by emailing liz.dixonsmith@wrap.org.uk.

The deadline for receipt of tender submissions is Feb. 19.
