The Waste & Resources action Programme, a program designed by the United Kingdom to promote resource efficiency has announced the creation of a new group called the National Paper Advocacy Team. The goal of this new group is to boost the consumption of recycled content paper within Great Britain. The advocacy group will assist and support businesses, local authorities and central government to procure recycled content paper for office, publication and business process use.
The Paper Advocacy Team, supported by case studies, procurement guides and a wide range of examples, will be available to provide free one to one advice on the opportunities for the procurement of recycled content paper. The team will work directly with major end-clients in the public and private sectors in order to prove the practicalities and economics of specifying recycled.
David Adams, Product Manager for paper at WRAP, said: “Increased purchase of paper with a recycled content provides the economic drive for additional collection of recovered paper from offices and businesses, diverting waste paper from landfill. The introduction of the national Paper Advocacy Team is an exciting development for WRAP which allows direct engagement with businesses, and local and central government.”
