WMR's Plymouth, Utah, yard receives SHARP recognition

Western Metals Recycling (WMR), headquartered in Sandy, Utah, has announced that its Plymouth, Utah, facility has received the Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation from the Utah Labor Commission.

WMR facilities in Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah; and Englewood, Colorado, already have received the SHARP designation.

The company's Plymouth facility was recognized for its commitment to creating and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

SHARP is the highest honor the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awards to small work sites that demonstrate an exemplary commitment to workplace safety and health.

Jeff Davis, WMR president, thanked employees for their daily contributiond to the company’s success, saying, “Safety is recognized and promoted as a core value at WMR. Active participation throughout all levels of the organization is key to the success of our safety process, and we continue to explore new ways to improve safety in our plants. Congratulations to all WMR Plymouth teammates on receiving this important SHARP award.”

Plant managers Jardee Steed and Kevin Christensen, along with General Manager James Ramsey, accepted the recognition on behalf of the WMR staff.

WMR has nearly 250 employees and operates nine recycling facilities. It is wholly owned by The David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), Cincinnati, which is a subsidiary of Nucor Corp., Charlotte, North Carolina.
