The LCSWMA transfer station site will offer free drop-off Monday through Friday during regular business hours until Labor Day. After Labor Day, the drop-off service will be available on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
Dixon Recyclers, a local Waste Management Recycle America operation located at 702 South Prince Street, will offer similar drop-off services for a charge. Dixon Recyclers will work with a sister company, Asset Recovery Group, to properly manage and recycle the collected e-scrap.
“We are excited about taking a leadership role in recycling computer-related electronic waste in this area. This partnership enhances Lancaster County’s recycling program and demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Jim Warner, LCSWMA Executive Director.
He added, “We are optimistic that many people will take advantage of this service since it is convenient and ongoing rather than a single-day event which often results in conflicts in scheduling or weather problems. This program is an extension of our existing household hazardous waste collection program and we hope to capture more of that material as well.”
“The e-scrap materials collected in Lancaster will be transported to recyclers in Pennsylvania and North Carolina for additional processing and remarketing,” said Rick Frescatore, Region Recycling Manager for Waste Management Recycle America.
