Waste Management of Pennsylvania, an operating unit of Houston-based Waste Management Inc. (WM), has acquired Sustainable Waste Solutions (SWS), a Souderton, Pennsylvania-based provider of commercial and industrial waste handling services in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. SWS provides hauling services and converts waste into energy at its resource recovery facility.
“This is a momentous occasion for us,” states Rafael Carrasco, WM’s vice president of its Greater Mid-Atlantic Area. “SWS is a regional leader in landfill-free and sustainability services. As more and more businesses and institutions seek to advance their zero-waste initiatives, SWS enhances our abilities and service offerings in this growing segment of our business.”
On its website, SWS lists Morristown, New Jersey-based Covanta as among the providers of its waste-to-energy technology.
