WM of the Pacific Northwest Acquiring Washington C&D Recycler

Deal is part of Waste Management of the Pacific Northwest’s focus on growing its construction and demolition recycling business in the Northwest.

Waste Management of the Pacific Northwest (WM) has entered into an agreement to acquire Glacier Recycle, an Auburn, Wash., company that provides recycling services for the construction industry.

According to a release, Waste Management officials said the acquisition will expand its "green services" related to waste reduction, waste recovery and the processing of waste into new materials.

Among its services, Glacier, a construction and demolition recycling firm, recycles and processes recovered wood for the manufacturing of recycled wood products and for use as biomass fuel. The company serves the entire Puget Sound area.

Dean Kattler, Waste Management's vice president-Pacific Northwest, says the integration of Glacier's processing facilities will allow Waste Management to significantly increase its construction business recycling in the Puget Sound region. He adds that the deal will position WM to provide services to support the growth of green building and LEED certification across the region.

The transaction is expected to be completed on Nov. 30, contingent on the assignment of the necessary permits and contracts.
