WAF, based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is a finalist in the Partner in Collaborative Innovation category for its project with San Francisco-based Gravity, a leading enterprise carbon accounting and energy management platform, to improve energy efficiency in the aluminum melting process at WAF’s foundry in Crookston, Minnesota. While the project received federal support through a Department of Energy program focused on small and midsized manufacturers, that funding is on hold as part of a broader federal spending review.
“We are honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award,” WAF CEO Sachin Shivaram says. “We take an innovative, entrepreneurial approach to helping customers find solutions to their manufacturing challenges. In addition, our team takes pride in establishing positive, collaborative relationships with our partners. Those two things, innovation and collaboration, benefit everyone involved and make us all successful.”
Winners in all award categories will be announced June 18 at the Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Florida. The gala is the closing event for Rethink: Accelerating Digital Transformation in Manufacturing.
WAF employs more than 1,000 people throughout its divisions, which include Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry; Wabash Castings in Wabash, Indiana; Dee Manufacturing in Crookston, Minnesota; Manitowoc Pattern & Machining I, Manitowoc; All American 1930 in Manitowoc; Atek Metal Technologies inNew Hampton, Iowa; and Anderson Global in Muskegon, Michigan.
