Again Technologies LLC, the circular economy and carbon solutions company behind WireCycle LLC, Arlington, Texas, has named Eric Olsson head of operations.
Olsson joins WireCycle from Tomra Recycling, where he served as plastics segment manager for the Americas, providing technical guidance on advanced sorting technologies and supporting the design and implementation of optical systems to improve the recovery and purity of end-of-life plastics.
With WireCycle, Olsson will lead all aspects of plant operations in Arlington, including production, maintenance, safety and quality control. He’ll be responsible for scaling WireCycle’s proprietary systems, managing personnel and meeting performance and sustainability targets. Olsson also will collaborate with the Again Technologies leadership team to optimize logistics, drive continuous improvement and help expand Again’s Biomimicry model to other critical material streams.
Launched in June, WireCycle is a first-of-its-kind facility built to recycle the plastic left behind after copper is stripped from wire and cable. Using proprietary technologies, WireCycle says it transforms the previously discarded material, primarily polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene, into high-quality recycled macropolymers suitable for use in chemical and mechanical recycling, as well as in finished product applications.
“I’m extremely excited to join WireCycle and help bring this significant recycling solution to life,” Olsson says. “There’s tremendous opportunity to recover value from materials that have historically been treated as waste, and WireCycle is uniquely positioned to do just that.”
Prior to Tomra, Olsson held engineering and sustainability roles at Braskem, one of the world’s leading polyolefin producers. He contributed to the company’s circular economy and sustainability strategy, developing circular business models for recycled resins. He also worked on the manufacturing side of the business as a process engineer.
Olsson has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Mississippi.
“Eric’s combination of technical depth and industry experience makes him an outstanding fit to lead WireCycle’s day-to-day operations,” says Claudine Osipow, founder and CEO of Again Technologies. “As we scale, his leadership will be crucial in driving efficiency, quality and innovation on the ground in Arlington.”
