Henry A. Wiltschek Inc., Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, has introduced the “CanSort” Meatball Drum for use in automotive shredding downstream systems.
According to the company, the drums are “engineered for maximum meatball extraction using the strongest super-energy rare earth neodymium iron boron permanent magnets, installed in optimized magnetic circuits.”
When used in a downstream system, the Meatball Drum is designed to extract copper-bearing shredded motor pieces, otherwise known as meatballs, or “shelmo” in the Scrap Specifications Circular issued by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc.
The Meatball Drum is available in different diameters and in four width sizes: 36-, 48-, 60- and 70-inch. Also, the Meatball Drums can be configured to be direct-drive, belt-driven or chain-driven.
