Weyerhaeuser Co. announced plans to permanently close its Springfield, Ore., linerboard machine, as well as a fine paper machine and paper sheeter in Longview, Wash.
The company attributed continued softness in markets as well as the inefficiencies of the machines as reasons for the close. Both machines had been idled since May due to market conditions.
