Weyerhaeuser announced plans to permanently close its Sturgeon Falls, Ont., containerboard mill around the first half of December. The move will remove around 100,000 tons of capacity a year The decision to close the mill was made to allow the company to streamline its business and boost efficiency.
Over the past several months Weyerhaeuser has shuttered a number of machines throughout its network chain, including a corrugated medium machine in Kentucky, a particleboard plant in Louisiana, and a corrugated sheet plant in Oklahoma.
