Weyerhaeuser Co. announced it is permanently closing its corrugating medium machine at Hawesville, Ky. within the next 60 days.
The shutdown of the machine eliminates 200,000 tons of capacity. This follows the shutdown of a corrugated machine at Plymouth, N.C. announced late this spring. The machine at Plymouth had a capacity of 215,000 tons.
The machine being closed was part of Willamette Industries that Weyerhaeuser acquired. The Hawesville facility also produces fine paper and pulp. These will remain open.Latest from Recycling Today
