Westvaco Corp. announced plans to close its packaging plants in Richmond, Va., and Memphis, Tenn by the middle of November.
Westvaco expects to relocate equipment at the Richmond plant to other facilities.
The two plants produce packaging for a number of consumer products. The company expects to manufacture the products at other Westvaco facilities.
The decision to close these two plants follows on the heels of Westvaco’s decision, Aug. 31, to close its Tyrone, Pa., paper mill.
