Western Metals Recycling (WMR), wholly owned by the metals recycling company David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), has announced the opening of its expanded nonferrous metals recycling facility in Sal
t Lake City, Utah. The company says that the new 24,000-square-foot covered nonferrous metal recycling facility will offer the general public drive-through recycling that WMR says will be fast, friendly and makes it easy to “go green” and recycle. DJJ is a part of the steel company Nucor Corp.
WMR, with nine locations in the West, is the largest full-service metals recycler in the Intermountain West.
The official opening of the expanded facility is May 15; the plant opens to the general public starting May 16, 2012. WMR’s Salt Lake City facility is the main scrap supplier to Nucor’s Plymouth, Utah, steel mill.
WMR’s Salt Lake City recycling center buys ferrous scrap as well as household nonferrous scrap metal items like aluminum cans and other aluminum, stainless steel, copper and brass products. According to Dennis Schofield, WMR’s Salt Lake City plant manager, “We make it easy to recycle at our environmentally sound facility. This is a great way for community members to make money while helping to preserve and protect our environment.”
