The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection's REAP/Recycling Program will be holding an open meeting on Oct. 4-5 at its agency headquarters in Charleston.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the FY2006 Recycling Grant applications.
James Hill, the administrator of the REAP program, notes that 60 applications were submitted by the July 31st deadline. The agency is expected to make the official announcement on the recipients by early next year.
For government entities the maximum amount of grant money available is $100,000 unless two communities establish a cooperative arrangement, whereby the maximum grant money available would be $200,000. For the private sector, the maximum grant money to be awarded to individual companies is $50,000.
This is the 14th year of the program, although the first under the DEP’s REAP program, Hill notes. Over the length of the program an average of around $1.5 million has been made available for the recycling program.
