Wendt Corp., located in Tonawanda, NY, announced the sale of the first two of its 130 HEAVY shredders. The shredders come from the company’s new HEAVY line.
Camden Iron & Metal and Sturgis Iron & Metal both purchased a 130 HEAVY shredder – the largest mill available offering the greatest throughput capabilities found in the industry.
Both companies selected a 130 HEAVY™ shredder with an 8,000 HP motor, a 4 arm spider rotor and downstream solutions featuring two (2) Magnet Stands w/2 60x96 Axial Pole Mags, two (2) 72” wide Z-Box air systems w/70,000 CFM, four (4) picking conveyors and two (2) radial stacking conveyors.
The shredder is available with 6000 – 10,000 HP, is capable of processing 300 tons per hour of ferrous scrap (with surges of 400 TPH) and provides more than three times the striking force of a typical 98x104 shredder. The 130 HEAVY shredder features a 130” hammer swing and 1238 pound hammers creating the hardest hitting hammers of any automobile shredder.
The HEAVY™ shredder line creates a new sizing standard within the industry based on the ideal relationship between Hammer Size and available motor RPM. The new sizes are 82, 106 and 130 that represents the hammer swing diameter.
All the shredders measure 115 inches wide inside the shredder walls and have a free flowing 97 inches of working width inside both the Feed Chute and Hammer Swing. It features heavier construction, fully beveled welds and interlocking fabrication.
Wendt also announced the sale of another Heavy shredder to PSC’s facility in Canton, Ohio. PSC purchased a Wendt 106 HEAVY™ Shredder to replace their 1970s vintage 96104 Hammermill Shredder. The main reason cited for selecting Wendt was because the equipment offers a shredding philosophy similar to their Hammermill by incorporating both a 4-arm Spider Rotor and an adjustable cutter bar.
PSC Metals, Inc. also purchased ferrous and non-ferrous downstream solutions. The ferrous downstream system uses two 60”x84” Steinert Axial Pole Mags, a Z Box and dual 60W picking conveyors. The non-ferrous solution featured a Tumble Back Feeder, Square Trommel, Bivitec Screen, three (3) Wendt Eddy Current Separators and a 96” Wendt/SSE Finder.
