WEEE Advisory Body Announces Appointment of Members to Board

Eleven people named to board.

Ian Lucas, business minister for the WEEE Advisory Body, has announced the appointment of 11 members to the board. The WAB is a non-Departmental public body established to provide advice to UK government on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive and the UK WEEE Regulations.

“The WEEE Advisory Body plays an important role advising Government on waste electronics. These new appointments will further strengthen the WAB bringing a new breadth of experience and knowledge to its future program of work,” Lucas said.

The new appointees are:

Scott Butler - General Manager, ERP; Lynne Cullis – COO, The Wastepack Group; Richard Davies - CEO, Gearrs Wales Ltd.; Bill Griffiths -national recycling manager, Viridor; Barry Groves OBE – director, Northern Compliance Ltd.; Andrew Hanratty - compliance director, Veolia Environmental Services PLC; Adrian Hawkes - director of Policy, Valpak; Simon Hill - commercial manager (Recycling), Wincanton; Lee Marshall - senior manager (Policy and Waste), Powys County Council; Claudia Kuss-Tenzer - Research and Policy program manager, Waste Watch; and Eddie Taylor - chief executive (Strategy), Lighting Industry Federation.

New Appointments are for two years and are effective from Jan. 1, 2010. Members are appointed on an independent basis and have expertise and experience relevant to the WEEE Regulations, rather than as delegates of particular organizations or interest groups.
