Charlotte, North Carolina-based Wastequip demonstrated its support for veterans with an equipment donation and Memorial Day luncheon at Purple Heart Homes in Statesville, North Carolina, on Thursday, May 24.
Founded in 2008, Purple Heart Homes focuses on providing housing for veterans that is safe and accessible. Wastequip donated a 30-yard roll-off container and cover to support Purple Heart Homes’ mission to help build homes for veterans in need.
The container has been on display at the May 2018 WasteExpo show, where Wastequip and other waste industry professionals were encouraged to write messages of gratitude and support for veterans on it.
“As a veteran and member of the Wastequip family, I know firsthand the sacrifices these people have made for the greater good,” said Marty Bryant, CEO of Wastequip. “We are proud to offer a small token of our gratitude by providing Purple Heart Homes with a much-needed piece of equipment for their construction efforts. This Memorial Day effort is part of our broader Wastequip Cares initiative designed to improve the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate. Together, we can build stronger communities and a brighter future for all.”
The luncheon celebration provided an opportunity for veterans to share their stories and be honored for their achievements and contributions, according to Wastequip.
