Sorting equipment firms strike alliance

Australia’s Wastech Engineering will now offer U.K.’s Impact Air Systems equipment line.

Wastech Engineering, based in Victoria, Australia, and Impact Air Systems, based in Leicester, United Kingdom, have announced that Wastech is now offering Impact’s line of separation equipment to its customers.

Wastech Engineering manufactures, installs and services equipment and systems for material recovery facilities (MRFs), including those handling household recyclables, construction and demolition (C&D) materials, municipal solid waste, electronic scrap, as well as for waste-to-energy plants.

The Impact Air Systems line of equipment uses air to separate dust and dry materials such as fractions of paper and plastic, metals, trammel screen fines and glass that can otherwise be costly and difficult to remove from the material streams.

Impact says its specially designed material collection hoods are usually mounted above sorting belts and are used to transport handpicked material, “reducing labour costs and eliminating the need for transfer conveyors and additional storage bunkers.” Its Zigzag Classification Unit separates materials based on density, size and shape into a stream of heavy and light materials, and “has been implemented into many waste management operations across the U.K. and now in Japan,” according to the company.

“The partnership with Impact Air Systems has enabled Wastech to expand its offerings in air separation equipment and systems and tap into the experience and knowledge of the Impact Air Systems team,” comments Scott Foulds, national projects manager for Wastech.

Says Dave Lansdell, technical sales director of Impact Air Systems, “Having worked with Wastech for a number of years, the relationship between the two companies is very strong and successful. We can now jointly and specifically develop solutions for each customer because of the localised sales and engineering support Wastech is able to provide. We look forward to improving and continuing our successful partnership.”
