Toronto-based Waste to Resource Ontario (W2RO), which represents the waste management, recycling and resource recovery sectors in Ontario, has elected Samuel Glofcheskie and Michael Leopold as board of director co-chairs for 2026-2028.
Glofcheskie is vice president of operations at Safety-Kleen Canada, and Leopold is CEO of Ontario-based Convertus Group.
“I am excited for the opportunity to step into the role of co-chair of W2RO’s board of directors,” Glofcheskie says. “It is an exciting time for our industry, and I see lots of opportunity for growth and innovation."
“Looking to the future, there has never been a more important time to focus on the importance of resource recovery,” Leopold says. “With continued investments and support for new technologies, Ontario can continue its leadership position in sustainable practices.”
W2RO also welcomes new board members Joe Johnson, Miller Waste Systems; Frank Mora, York1 and Dave Yousif, Niagara Region.
“Waste to Resource Ontario looks forwards to continuing to position ourselves as the thought leader and voice of Ontario’s waste and resource management sector,” says W2RO CEO Ashley De Souza. “I look forward to working alongside our new co-chairs to operationalize our new five-year strategic plan.”
W2RO also thanked its departing directors, Brent Bolger, Brendar Environmental Inc. and Denis Goulet, Miller Waste Systems.
