Waste Management to Partner in Electronics Recycling Events in Minnesota

Waste Management Recycle America, Electronic Manufacturers Coalition for Responsible Recycling to host electronics recycling events.

The Electronic Manufacturers Coalition for Responsible Recycling and Waste Management Recycle America are sponsoring a series of electronics recycling events this fall in Minnesota.

The events are scheduled for Oct. 21 and 28 from 8 a.m. to noon at the following locations:

  • Oct. 21, Twin Cities Transfer - NRG, 195 Minnehaha Ave., St Paul; 
  • Oct. 21, Burnsville Sanitary Landfill, 2650 W. Cliff Rd., Burnsville;
  • Oct. 21, Steele County Recycling Center, 1171 Brady Blvd., Owatonna; 
  • Oct. 21, WM Duluth,  3101 W. Superior St., Duluth; 
  • Oct. 28, Twin Cities Transfer, 8550 Zachary Lane, Maple Grove; 
  • Oct. 28, Re-Cy-Co Transfer, 1691 91st Ave., Northeast Blaine;
  • Oct. 28, WM Alexandria, 420 Geneva Rd., Alexandria; and
  • Oct. 28, WM Fairmont, 1847 110th St., Fairmont. 

Hitachi, IBM, JVC, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp and Toshiba are providing financial support for the initiative. A drop-off fee of $10 for monitors and televisions measuring 27 inches or smaller and of $25 for console TVs and those that are larger than 27 inches will apply. All other electronics will be accepted for recycling for $3. Major household appliances, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, washers and dryers, microwaves and smoke detectors will not be accepted.

The Waste Management sites will continue to collect electronics on an ongoing basis after the October events, but different pricing may apply.

More events are being planned for the spring of 2007 at other sites across Minnesota.
