Waste Management Tees Off

Company to sponsor PGA and Champions Tours.

Waste Management Inc., headquartered in Houston, has announced that it has become an official sponsor of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. The company has signed a three-year agreement that began July 1.

Under terms of the agreement, Waste Management becomes the “Official Environmental Waste Services Provider” of both Tours.  As such, the PGA Tour will assist Waste Management in developing business relationships with events, golf courses and other sponsors affiliated with the tour.  Additionally, Waste Management will be able to create Tour-themed relationship-building programs, branding opportunities at PGA Tour events, and advertising through PGA Tour-produced media, including television, print and Internet.

“Our sponsorship of the PGA Tour is a great fit for Waste Management,” Waste Management’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing David Aardsma says. “Not only do we expect it will benefit the company through additional business opportunities with the tournaments and courses, we believe that the backdrop of these prestigious tournaments will provide us with the means to enhance relationships with key customers and showcase our superior service capabilities. Since the PGA Tour is one of North America’s most prestigious and well-respected sports properties, we believe our affiliation will enhance our brand’s profile and image.”

“We're extremely pleased to announce this new marketing partnership with the leading company in the waste management industry,” Tom Wade, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for the PGA Tour, says. "We are particularly impressed by Waste Management's outstanding corporate commitment to environmental protection and our shared corporate mission of improving local communities throughout the country.”
