Houston-based Waste Management Inc. (WM) has relocated the headquarters of its Sustainability Services Group to Windsor, Conn. The new headquarters will accommodate a staff of more than 500. The new office was previously the headquarters of Oakleaf Waste Management, which WM acquired in July 2011.
"With the assistance of a 2010 economic development grant from the State of Connecticut, Oakleaf was able to lay the foundation for future growth by improving its headquarters infrastructure and upgrading technologies," says Steven Preston, executive vice president of finance, recycling and energy services for Waste Management. "The strength of that foundation was critical in Waste Management's decision to consolidate these operations in Connecticut. I'm very pleased that we will far exceed the nearly 40 jobs guaranteed as a condition of the grant - and do so three years ahead of schedule."
