Waste Management Firm, Equipment Company Merge

Combined operation hopes to maximize strengths of both companies.

Greenleaf Compaction, Inc., a provider of waste management equipment rental services has merged with Oakleaf Waste Management, a waste management services company.

Greenleaf headquartered in Phoenix, rents stationary compactors, containers, balers and other waste management and recycling equipment to commercial businesses and haulers. In addition, the company has developed a coast to coast network of waste equipment maintenance and repair services.

Oakleaf Waste Management, headquartered in East Hartford, Ct., provides recycling and waste management services throughout North America. The company manages waste and recycling services at more than 70,000 locations.

James Barnes, president and CEO of Oakleaf, says, “Greenleaf is an outstanding fit with the waste management services we provide to our national base of customers.”

SENNEBOGEN 340G telehandler improves the view in Macon County, NC

An elevated cab is one of several features improving operational efficiency at the Macon County Solid Waste Management agency in North Carolina. When it comes to waste management, efficiency, safety and reliability are priorities driving decisions from day one, according to staff members of the Macon County Solid Waste Management Department in western North Carolina. The agency operates a recycling plant in a facility originally designed to bale incoming materials. More recently, the building has undergone significant transformations centered around one machine: a SENNEBOGEN telehandler (telescopic handler).

Greenleaf’s Founder, Michael Macera, will remain as its president and has joined Oakleaf’s board of directors. “This is a merger that makes perfect sense, since both companies serve similar markets,” noted Macera. “We expect that our combined synergies will prove to be mutually rewarding. In the end, though, it is our customers who will benefit the most because of service efficiencies, economies of scale, and sole-sourcing capabilities,” he added.
