Waste Connections, Inc. announced first quarter revenue of $105.7 million, a 24 percent increase from figures the same time last year. Operating income for the quarter increased 25 percent to $29.1 million from $23.2 million for the first quarter of 2001.
Ronald Mittelstaedt, chairman and CEO, said, ``We are extremely pleased with the strong start to 2002. The first quarter reflected solid results from existing operations, improvements in pricing and strong acquisition activity. These results were achieved despite the fact that we are not seeing significant economically driven improvements in our business.”
