Waste Connections, Inc. has acquired certain collection and transfer assets from Allied Waste Industries, Inc. in Tennessee. These assets include collection and transfer operations in and around Knoxville and collection operations in Cleveland, Tenn.
The company also reported that revenue for the third quarter were $133.5 million, a 36.7 percent increase over revenue of $97.7 million in the third quarter of 2001. Operating income for the quarter, excluding $427,000 of expenses related to relocation of the corporate office, increased 36.8 percent to $35.7 million
Ronald J. Mittelstaedt, chairman and CEO, said, "as expected, the third quarter remained relatively subdued from a seasonal perspective, and was effectively flat with the second quarter.
“Acquisition activity was consciously slowed as we focused on integrating acquisitions closed in the second quarter and due diligence on the larger Allied Waste Industries Tennessee transaction. With the closing of the Allied Waste Tennessee acquisition, we have now closed on acquisitions with over $105 million of annualized revenue year-to-date.”Get curated news on YOUR industry.
