VPK Packaging Group, a Belgium-based packaging firm with locations throughout Europe, has completed the acquisition of Norway-based Peterson Packaging’s corrugating activity. The deal includes six facilities in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. The newly acquired facilities will operate as a business unit under the name Peterson within the VPK group.
The decision to retain the Peterson name is similar to VPK’s other business units such as Rigids (U.K. and Ireland, Ondulys (France) and Aquila (Poland).
In a release, VPK says the acquisition of the six facilities fits into its strategy to increase its geographical coverage, providing European customers with high quality corrugated packaging. The newly acquired business unit will expand VPK’s activity into the Scandinavian market.
Heading up the new operations will be Dan Johannessen, who has been named managing director and will lead the Scandinavian Business Unit.
Further, according to VPK, through its international alliance, Blue Box Partners, corrugating activities will include coverage from Norway to Spain and from Ireland to Romania.
“Peterson Packaging is a leading provider in Scandinavia, servicing important customers in various markets such as food, drinks and FMCG. We are looking forward to continuing these activities, improving service levels and further developing wherever possible. Peterson’s long term business presence and close customer relationships fit in neatly with VPK’s sustainable growth approach. I am convinced that strengths of two proven companies will be combined in the new VPK Peterson brand,” says CEO Pierre Macharis.
