VPK Packaging Group, a European company based in Belgium, announced plans to invest around 200 million Euros (US$311 million) to build a new recycled corrugated mill in Europe. The company has not yet decided whether to build the mill in Germany or Poland. The project is expected to take two years and should be operational by 2011.
This investment will bring the paper production capacity of VPK Packaging Group to 800,000 metric tons. The paper consumption in the groups’ packaging plants is expected to reach the same level in 2011, so the paper production will be almost completely integrated within the group.
The company also announced that it expects its new production facility in Romania to open up by the third quarter of this year. That mill will produce both corrugated board and corrugated tubes.
VPK Packaging Group operates 26 plants in 12 countries in Europe.
