Vista Fibers Sold

Texas recycling company will be merged with growing Midwest recycling operation.

Bolder Capital acquired Vista Fibers, a Texas-based recycling operation, earlier this month. Boulder is a holding company that has an equity stake in Mid America Recycling, an Iowa-based recycling company headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.

Vista Fibers has locations in Texas and Louisiana.

Mid America has been aggressively growing its business in the Midwest, with 10 different plants in Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Mid America has developed its operations as a multi-material recycling facility. It has been in business for around 25 years, and began as Container Recovery Inc.

Vista Fibers has five recycling plants, as well as a number of buy-back centers in Texas and Louisiana.

In addition to recycling plants, Vista operates a NAID AAA certified document destruction company called AV Security Destruction.

While Vista Fibers has been sold, the Texas company will maintain its name and its operations in the Texas area.

Tom Lyons, president of Vista, says that while he will remain with the newly acquired company for a certain length of time, the deal will allow him to “back off the business a little bit.”

"Vista Fibers is a very fine, well-operated company that will add significant value to our customers and shareholders," said Brian Meng, president of MARC. "The addition of their locations to our existing geographic plant structure offers our customers even greater flexibility in marketing recycled paper."

"In evaluating potential buyers, we found Mid America Recycling Company to most nearly reflect the values of Vista Fibers," said Lyon. "We are thrilled to take Vista Fibers to the next level with Mid America Recycling."
