Virginia C&D Recycler Plans New Facility

Ace Recycling will construct an indoor materials recovery facility in Chester, Va.

Ace Recycling, Reston, Va., has announced plans to build and operate an indoor materials recovery facility at the Sustainability Park in Chester, Va., according to a press release from the Chesterfield County, Va., Department of Public Affairs.

The project is expected to create approximately 30 new jobs and represents an investment in Chesterfield County of more than $6 million.

Ken Mogul, president of Ace Recycling, says the company will be modifying an existing manufacturing building to achieve a gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Ace Recycling is a processor specializing in construction and demolition debris recycling. The facility will receive mixed C&D debris. All activities will be conducted indoors, including the receipt of material, sorting and separating, secondary processing and then loading outbound trucks.

Mogul says when completed, the facility will be capable of processing 525 tons of C&D debris per day.

Ace Recycling will be permitting its operations through the Department of Environmental Quality, a requirement for new materials recovery facilities. It will also be working with Chesterfield County on its modifications to the existing building. Mogul says he hopes to have the facility operation by the summer of 2008.
