Vecoplan LLC, High Point, N.C., has co-sponsored the second annual “Shredding for Kids” fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater High Point, N.C. The event provided secure document destruction to individuals and home offices for a minimal fee.

In addition to donating two of its mobile shredding systems for the day, a VST-32i and a VST-42e, Vecoplan provided personnel to operate the trucks and to help with logistics for the event.

The event was Saturday, Aug. 21, in the High Point Bank Operations Center parking lot. More than 200 individuals, an increase from last year’s 130, arrived with boxes and bags of confidential documents, totaling 16,000 pounds, to be shred. Revenues increased by about 43 percent compared with 2009, according to a press release from Vecoplan.

According to Holly Feree, vice president of development at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater High Point, “The fundraiser was even more successful than last year!”

“People were impressed with how small the shred size was,” Feree says. “Vecoplan’s trucks were able to shred their private papers down to something almost like confetti, and I think that was a big part of the event’s success.”

Vecoplan is a leading manufacturer of industrial grinding, shredding and size reduction equipment for applications in the secure destruction, plastics processing and recycling, printing and converting, woodworking, biomass and alternative fuels as well as general waste processing and recovery.
