USX Corp.’s board of directors approved an $86 million project to install equipment at the company’s Lorain, Ohio, tube plant. The facility will produce tubular goods for the energy and transportation markets. It also will produce specialized piping products for high temp applications.
The facility will have an annual capacity of 340,000 tons.
U. S. Steel Tubular Products has operating facilities in Lorain, Ohio, Fairfield, Ala., and McKeesport, Pa.
In addition to the heat-treating facility, the tube finishing facilities will be revamped to include a new higher-pressure hydro tester and an ultrasonic inspection area.Latest from Recycling Today
