USC Castings enters partnership with Magotteaux

Magotteaux will supply shredder wear parts to Illinois-based U.S.C. Castings.

Mackinaw, Illinois-based USC Castings has reached what it calls a long-term supply agreement with Magotteaux for the supply of differentially heat-treated (DHT) shredder hammers and other wear parts.

As part of the agreement, Magotteaux says it has dedicated production capacity for the scrap industry wear parts to be poured in North America at foundries in Pulaski, Tennessee, and Monterrey, Mexico. The agreement allows USC to distribute the hammers and wear parts in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“USC Castings was built on the reputation of reliable delivery and consistent wear part performance for manganese castings,” says the company’s Barry Sheppard. “We have been searching for some time for a cost-effective, high-value, DHT shredder hammers. In Magotteaux we have found a partner who can not only deliver the performance we require for our customers, but also the reliable supply that’s critical for on-time delivery.”

“Magotteaux is thrilled to have entered into this agreement with USC Castings,” says Alan Greer, general manager at Magotteaux for Canada, Mexico and the U.S. “As a global leader in high-abrasion wear parts production, we’re committed to providing the best possible customer support. A partner like USC Castings, who has such deep and intimate knowledge of the metal shredding business, ensures we’ll fulfill that commitment for customers in the scrap recycling industry.”

The agreement extends beyond DHT hammers to other shredder wear parts where uniform alloy chemistries have been formulated to provide long life and superior shredder production. Spider caps, end disc caps, anvils, entry liners and pin protectors all have become part of USC Castings’ alloy offerings.

USC Castings is a sister company of U.S. Conveyor Corp. The group describes itself as the fastest growing supplier of shredder wear parts in the North American marketplace for several years.
