US Shredder and Castings Group celebrates 10th anniversary

Company supplies shredders, nonferrous separation systems and wear parts to the metals recycling industry.

Miramar Beach, Florida-based U.S. Shredder and Castings Group, a major supplier of shredders, nonferrous systems and wear parts, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2016.

President Bill Tigner says, “When we started out 10 years ago, we focused primarily on the castings and wear parts business. But even that first year, we sold two major shredder downstream systems. Now our scope of supply is any component in a shredder system: conveyors, electrical systems, hydraulics and separation technology, including turnkey installations. Understanding how to maximize the use of separation technology is part of our success. There is so much more to a successful nonferrous plant than simply dropping in new sensors.”

Tigner credits part of the company’s growth to its turnkey installation capabilities. In the first of half 2016, U.S. Shredder will complete the installation of two major nonferrous downstream systems as well as a 7090 aluminum shredder installation.

With the addition of a new conveyor supplier, the company says it also has increased its engineering capability and capacity.

In 2015, U.S. Shredder also partnered with A Fines Solution, Pompano Beach, Florida. The two companies work together to supply nonferrous systems at no equipment investment to the customer. They currently have supplied five nonferrous systems through the partnership, according to U.S. Shredder.

The company has also expanded internationally, selling a nonferrous plant in Brazil in the fourth quarter of 2015.

U.S. Shredder says it also greatly increased its nonferrous application knowledge in 2015 with addition of Ryan Njavro as its nonferrous systems manager.
